Siquijor Governor Orlando A. Fua, Jr. is the new chairman of the Central Visayas Regional Tourism Council (RTC) 7. RTC new set of officers took their oath during the 11th Regional Tourism Assembly at the Waterfront Hotel, Cebu City on October 11 with the theme "Expanding Regional Tourism Partnership". Gov. Fua who then was called to an urgent meeting in Manila with the other governors was represented by Vice Governor Andre Jesu E. Cortes. The council composed of tourism stakeholders of the four (4) provinces of Cebu, Bohol, Oriental Negros and Siquijor whose thrust is to uplift the tourism industry in Central Visayas and in the country in general, for the first time handed over the chairmanship to the governor of Siquijor. Other members are: Oriental Negros Board Member (BM) Mariant Villegas- Vice Chair for Promotions and Marketing; Bohol BM Corazon J. Galbreath- Vice Chair for Standards and Services; Cebu BM Agnes A. Magpale- Vice chair for Product Development; Mrs. Sylvia V. Uy of the Air Philippines- Treasurer; Dr. Milagros C. Espina of the Cebu Visitors Convention Bureau- Director for Media Relations; Ms. Agnes B. Gupalor of the Cebu Pacific Air- Auditor; and DOT7 Director Patria Aurora B. Roa as ex-officio member. Secretary will be appointed by the chairman coming from his province. RTC meetings will be done every other month or as often as the chairman will call for. On her speech, 2005-2007 RTC Chairman BM Mariant Villegas expressed her expectation for the Council members to explore more of what each province has to offer and share a "more profound appreciation of the exciting new package called Central Visayas" not only to each other but to the rest of the world.
